zThe First Miracle

The First Miracle. Written by Michael Khashmanian. Directed by Paul Downey. Produced by Jan Donnelly.

Set in the politically charged backdrop of Judea in 4 BCE, the First Miracle invites you to join Isaac, the innkeeper in Bethlehem, and his family. The story centres on his eldest daughter, Deborah, who is betrothed to Ariel, a Zealot determined to win independence for Judea against the world’s most powerful army. Fearful for the life of her betrothed, she weighs her own beliefs against war and

violence with her people’s struggle for freedom. As the violence of her time escalates and her worst fears are about to become a reality, the overcrowded inn is visited by a young couple about to give birth. Many of the problems in Deborah’s world are paralleled in today’s world. Will the birth of the child provide answers for Deborah and her family and also for the people of today? Will the Zealots find another way to deal with an evil empire?
